Curated as part of the Craft in America nationwide initiative: HANDWORK:  Celebrating American Craft 2026, the exhibition features more than 140 works selected by Fresno Art Museum Executive Director and Chief Curator Michele Ellis Pracy from Forrest L. Merrill’s astounding collection.

We are so grateful to Forrest for his decades of thoughtful collecting and to Michele’s curatorial vision that brings these remarkable works into dialogue.

April 10 – June 3, 2026

I am excited to share that 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘼𝙗𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙇𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘾𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙘𝙨 opens on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Pence Gallery in Davis, California.

Centered on materiality, this exhibition brings together five artists who have each developed a distinct visual vocabulary—abstract languages expressed through unique forms.

I’m honored to be showing alongside this incredible group of artists:

I’ll be presenting a series of geometric sculptures that explore the dynamic interplay of form and surface. Through these works, I explore the geometry of nature—often expressed through groupings of forms in quiet conversation.

Join us at the artist receptions on April 10 and 24, 2026!

PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA

January 17 – April 5, 2026

CLAY SUSTAINS: VESSELS OF CHANGE

I’m delighted and honored to have three of my cracked-earth wall pieces featured in this compelling exhibition, beautifully guest-curated by Rina Faletti.

“Clay Sustains continues the Palo Alto Art Center’s Centering series, here in the form of ceramic artwork, where creative vessels and forms (whose basic elements are earth, water, mineral) and their technologies of making (whose elements are fire and air) ask us to look more closely. How can earth itself be fashioned into art that serves as sustenance in our challenging contemporary world? If we consider ceramics as vessels of change, how can these works help us understand ideas of “sustainability” in the face of cultural and environmental change?” —Palo Alto Art Center

This exhibition is presented in conjunction with Handwork: Celebrating American Craft 2026, a nationwide network of exhibitions sponsored by Craft in America to showcase the importance of the handmade and celebrate the diversity of craft that defines America.

80th SCRIPPS COLLEGE CERAMIC ANNUAL
In the Hands of the Collector:
The Fred Marer and Forrest L. Merrill Collections

I am so honored that my work, Tracing Time #507, 2017 is included in this stellar exhibition.

“We invite you to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Scripps College Ceramic Annual, the longest continuous exhibition of contemporary ceramics in the United States. A tale of two California collectors and their passion for clay, concurrent with the evolution of the Ceramic Annual, is at the heart of this year’s exhibition. Fred Marer (1908–2002), a math professor at Los Angeles City College, collected more than 1,500 contemporary works that span six decades. In Northern California, Berkeley’s Forrest L. Merrill (b. 1933) amassed more than 4,000 pieces. Their collections provide a fascinating window into not only the Ceramic Annual but also twentieth-century ceramics in California and beyond.” —Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery

The 80th Scripps College Ceramics Annual, exquisitely curated by ceramic historian, author, and educator Nancy M. Servis, features over one hundred works from the Marer and Merrill collections representing sixty-two artists. Being part of this prestigious exhibition means so much to me. Never in my wildest dreams did I think my work would be shown alongside a Hans Coper or Lucie Rie piece!

“When you take the time to focus on an artist’s work, you have the liberty to go where they’ve been, and that’s the kind of journey that interests me very much.” —Forrest L. Merrill

SYMBIOSIS – Liza Riddle & Mark Goudy

“There is a subtle and quiet nature to Riddle’s constructions, yet they contain an understated energy posing a simple question: How did they get this way, and what caused them to fissure and fracture in such a way? This sense of mysterious metamorphosis, preserved as a moment in time, reflects her sense of exploration of natural occurrences that abound on our small planet.” —Jonathan Kaplan, Plinth Gallery

BONE BLACK

I’m truly honored to have my ceramic works featured in this exhibition alongside 25 exceptional San Francisco Bay Area artists working in diverse media.

“Bone Black explores the intersection between logic, geometry and instinct. The title of the exhibition takes its name from the pigment used by artists in a lineage that encompasses the history of art in the Western tradition. For some artists, black is the ultimate neutral element, a ‘non-color’ stripped of meaning to become a vehicle to ‘hold space.’ Bone black in this context becomes what is unspoken, and what is understood intuitively.” —Philip Bewley, Curator
